Why can't I verify my Pinterest account?

  I having having trouble verifying my Pinterest account. I have copied and pasted the meta tag onto my site, saved changes and then returned to my Pinterest account. When I click the ‘complete verification’ red button it neither verifies or shows an error, it simply is loading. I’ve left up for a half hour, and nothing happens. Any suggestions?

  Hi there. First, are you opening Pinterest and the WordPress.com verification page in separate tabs? You have to have both websites open at the same time and closing the Pinterest page when you go to the WP.com dashboard might be the problem here. https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/#pinterest-site-verification

  If that’s not the case, please try clearing your browser cache and cookies, log back into WordPress.com and Pinterest and try again.

  Let us know if it still won’t work.

  Thank you so much for your response! I was opening both the Pinterest and WordPress.com pages in separate tabs. Also I’ve just cleared my browser cache and cookies according to the directions I found on wordpress.com and still no luck!! I think I’ve done both correctly and tried again and the same problem persists. Any other suggestions? Thank you!

  I’m afraid I don’t have any more suggestions, but hopefully staff has. I’ve tagged this for them to follow up. Please be patient a little longer while waiting for them to respond.

  Hi there,

  The problem you’re having is with the verification step at Pinterest, right? You will need to contact Pinterest to find out why that’s happening — it’s possible they are running into an issue on their end. (If they gave an error message I could help determine if something needs to be changed on your WordPress.com site, but at this stage I don’t have enough information to know if there’s anything I can do to help.)

  Thanks so much for your help! I will go ahead and contact Pinterest. I had no error message, just a loading symbol that never went away!
