Why can't I work with images on my blog home page?

    Many of the images on my home page will not load. I get the blue box with the question mark on 4-6 of my images. This is true on my Apple laptop, my Android 4.0 tablet, and on friends’ Windows-based computers.

    In what may be a related matter, I cannot Add media to my posts. On the Dashboard I see a photo, but on the final post, all I get is a URL, (long,) and some unreadable text, along with my caption. This has happened numerous times, and is seriously limiting the impact of my posts. Please, help, or at least, explain.
