Why can't people using IE see my blog properly?

    I have been using firefox on my mac to set up and review my blog, which I recently launched.
    I just learned that nearly everyone who will be reading my blog- my friends who work in banks, law firms and other corporate organizations– have IE 8 which inexplicably messes up the formatting. They don’t have the option to move to another browser, their IT departments mandate what they are allowed to use.
    Is this simply unfixable? If so I wish you’d made this information readily available before I spent all this time on this platform, there is no question I would have chosen a different platform where my blog could actually be read by 99% of my target readers instead of next to none. Please advise!
