Why can't the people I invite to become administrators access the site?

  Hi
  I’ve been following the instructions for adding administrators and editors to our site https://nthipswichgirlguides.wordpress.com. The recipients receive the email and hit the accept button but they cannot access the site and the back end says we are still waiting for the acceptance. They set up their own accounts but this site doesn’t show on their list.
  What do we need to do to fix this problem?

  Hi Leanne,

  It appears your other Administrator user invites are also for those named Leanne, can I assume you’re creating additional administrator profiles for yourself?

  This is fine, but it might explain the error. If you’re still logged into WordPress.com as the user presencecom when click the accept button in another email address — WordPress.com still just see it as the user presencecom, not the new user. So it does not validate the new administrator user.

  If this is what’s happening, I’d recommend resending all your administrator invitations. You can do that by clicking “Resend” here:

  Then logout of WordPress.com, check your email, accept the invite (you’ll have to login as the appropriate user / create a new account for that email)… then log out again before accepting the next user’s invite.

  Thanks for checking on this query, Alex. I only tried to send requests to myself after the other requests didn’t work. I have resent the invitations a few times, and these invitations have been received by the appropriate people, but their acceptances never seem to get back through cyberspace and neither do mine.

  Hi Leanne,

  In the worst case scenario we can manually add your users, but I’ll need those users to submit a request while logged in with the information you used to invite them.

  Before we try that, could you please resend them the invite once more, then instruct to first log into WordPress.com, then copy the link found at the bottom of the email. Paste that URL into the browser where they’ve logged in.

  Sorry if it feels like repeating steps, I just want to try all methods before we go the slow, manual route.
