Why can’t you search WordPress?
-
Hi,
I’m kind of new to blogs, I’ve heard a lot of good things about WordPress, but why can’t I search blogs on the http://www.wordpress.com home page? How do I find blogs I’m interested in other than clicking on random tags?

From the forum search box – aka a dead horse – https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=10824

Google is in the search engine business and wordpress has no interest in duplicating their service. Here’s an example:
music site:wordpress.com
here’s a more specific one
links site:bloggersblurt.wordpress.com -
hmmm… seems crazy to me. If I’m interested in for example wine, how to I find related blogs?
I’m a web designer and looking for good blogs to help my clients to lift there online profile. I link the functionality of wordpress, but if this is the case I’m going to have to recommend blogger.com to my clients.

Too bad you didn’t use my examples above to locate the wordpress.com bloggers writing about wine. Here you go wine site:wordpress.com
http://wordpress.com/tag/wine/Have you read the comparison of wordpress.com and wordpress.org products, policies and services? As a business person, perhaps you’d be more comfortable hiring a web host and downloading a free version of wordpress.org software. For as you know here at wordpress.com our blogs cannot be used to drive business to third party sites and advertising is not allowed. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=37001
