Why did buying my domain name make my blog inaccessible?
-
At your suggested, I just bought the domain name reliablenarratives.com — now neither it nor reliablenarratives.wordpress.com work. Help!
Blog url: http://reliablenarratives.wordpress.com/ -
It can take a few moments before your domain mapping becomes active. When I visit reliablenarratives.com, everything is working properly for me.
Can you try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies?

Haha, nope, everything worked properly for me the first time :) Since I haven’t visited your site before, there wasn’t a cached version.
-
So people who have visited my site before are left thinking it no longer exists, unless they happen to know to clear their cache? Is that what you’re telling me?
-
I see that you purchased the domain registration an hour ago. It may take a few moments before the domain mapping appears active on your blog as the DNS changes propagate.
However, everything appears to be working properly now.

What I’m telling you, though, is that as soon as I bought that, neither the old reliablenarratives.wordpress.com nor reliablenarratives.com would work until I cleared my cache. I’m asking if that’s going to be the case for my readers.
-
Right. Did you go to your website immediately after purchasing the domain registration upgrade? If so, then you saw that error message because the DNS changes hadn’t yet updated.
