why did moderator 3ctk shove me into “off-topic”
-
I’m hurt.

I posted something titled “don’t want to brag but…” and before I knew it 3ctk moved my post into off-topic. Just to make sure my brain wasn’t malfunctioning, I re-read the header “support” where it says: “share experiences and help each other.” I wanted to share a tiny success which, as some of us know, doesn’t come very often to new bloggers, and I felt that while it’s a good idea to share this tiny success, I should also share a tip especially for those who are new to wordpress and struggling with traffic. But it looks like I was given the royal snub. Now, if I had posted about how the rain in Spain rained on my parade, that would be off topic.
If I had posted something about bullies and how they come off as insecure nitwits, that would be off-topic.
If I had posted something about how the nouveau riche trample on the downtrodden, that would be off-topic.BUT:
My post was to give myself a pat on the back and share something even if that little something is nothing to write home about. I have read “hurrah” and “kudos to me” posts under the support section and they weren’t shoved off to never, neverland. They remained where they were and even received encouragement from a few.
“Sharing experiences and help each other” doesn’t necessarily mean troubleshooting or asking for some technical assistance, does it?Fiscal items, if you’re reading this, thanks for your congratulations. I could have received 2 more perhaps, if I wasn’t evicted or foreclosed on.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes it does.
If that post of yours was written as serious advice, then technically it would belong here. But you ended it with “I figured that if I persevered and did this regularly, I just might up the number of visitors to 6 by the time the year 2016 rolls around”, which shows that (fortunately) you weren’t offering advice, you were just recounting something unusual that happened to you; therefore (in my opinion) t3ck quite correctly moved the thread to the Off Topic section.
-
Amen.
“Hurrah for me” posts do not belong in the technical support forum. And there IS no “emotional support forum”.
-
I thought I shared a tip in my original post.
And if encouragement offered to some bloggers by some moderators themselves don’t qualify as emotional or motivational support, I don’t know what is.
And I wasn”t looking for emotional support. I am aware we’re supposed to watch out for ourselves and swim, not sink.
And: my line of “I figured that if I persevered etc. etc.” there is no advice in that statement. It was my sense of humor coming out.
Thank you for your comments. -
There is nothing wrong with posting in the off-topic forum. You should not be offended if your post was moved to a more appropriate forum!
There are quite a few posts there on a lot of topics. The conversation moves along at a very fast pace there.
-
I was offended, 1tess, but I am no longer offended. A few hours off my keyboard work wonders.
Thank you for your encouragement, much appreciated. Maybe, there should be a section called : “c’mon brag, but provide at least 1 tip.” Just kidding… -
Aye, my husband often tells me to “step away from the keyboard…”
For the most part we are volunteers, your fellow bloggers, and people do try to keep the forums on topic. I’ve seen lots of forums that have disintegrated. Anyway, when you have a technical question come here and no doubt someone will know how to advise.
(and mostly, we don’t bite. ≥^,^≤ )
-
Lovely, 1tess. You’re such a gracious person. Once upon a time, you complimented me on my drop cap.
I didn’t know you did this moderating on a volunteer basis. You’re making a wonderful contribution.
Yes, stepping away from the keyboard can dissipate one’s anger. And so does church service.
cheers. -
I feel bad the topic move offended you. I was just doing my daily forum routines and at that time I came across your thread which technically is “Off Topic Material” just like this thread should of been in the Question section.
The support section is for bloggers that are looking for technical help with their sites
Moderator Note: Moved to Question section.

Thanks for your message t3ck. Appreciate it. Yes, sometimes when we’re working, we get into automatic drive and tend to do things without putting our thinking caps on. It happens to me all the time.
What would have been nice is if you had left a note to say I was on the wrong street and should have turned right instead of left.
But I’m good to go, you were doing what you thought was right and I respect that 100%. The shock of seeing my post moved just ruffled my feathers a bit. That was yesterday. Today’s another day.
Thanks again for your message. I’ll be reading your posts about organic traffic soon. :) -
You’re welcome and again sorry your main thread got deleted that’s why I re posted it in quote form
