Why did my blog disappear?

  My blog just disappeared. I had not posted to it in about 6 months but I was still getting traffic via Pinterest and I was planning to pick it up again soon. What do I do?

  http://tripoddogdesign.wordpress.com is no longer available.
  The authors have deleted this blog.

  Did you delete your blog? Or is it possible someone you know has access to your email and password? It is the email which identifies your account on wordppress.com (and many / most other places online). Or are you asking about another blog?

  Yes, that is the correct blog. No, I did not delete it. I can’t think of anyone who would have access to my login information. Is the blog backed up somewhere? I can I get it back?

  I don’t think so. Once a blog is deleted, it is gone forever. WordPress.com does not recycle blog names, and whoever deleted it had multiple warnings (3) plus an email confirmations that the deletion would be final.

  This is the normal procedure for deleting a blog as discussed in the Support Documents:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

  Did you by chance try to do one of these things:

  Do NOT delete a blog to transfer it to someone else.
  Do NOT delete a blog to create a new username.
  Do NOT delete a blog to get rid of old posts or other content.

  I will modlook this thread, because as a volunteer there is nothing else I can do. Staff will find that tag. Please subscribe to this topic so you will be notified when there is another answer.

  As for a backup, I’m not sure. Did you ever use the export tool to make a backup file yourself?

  I think I might have figured it out. My website was having some problems so I have been messing with the files on ipage. I must have done something wrong and deleted my blog on accident through the control panel on ipage. I figured it out because I know that I didn’t receive any warning emails and I know that no one else knew my password. So, your information helped me. That makes me feel silly!! Thanks.

  Well I’m sorry that your blog is gone. It was a nice name. Hope you can think of a new, different, and even better one.

  I don’t think staff can recover the contents, but I’ll leave the modlook here just in case.
