why did my shares disappear?
-
Hello, I upgraded my blog from besweetbeamother.wordpress.com to besweetbeamother.com four days ago and since then the number of shares under the articles disappeared. It is a big problem for me :(
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Michela,
When you visit a post, we send out a ping to the various social networks and ask how many times they’ve seen that particular post come across their platform. The return a number and that number is displayed in the sharing icon.
When you change your primary domain on your site, we’re now asking the social networks for a new URL. For example, whereas previously Facebook was returning share numbers for
L’imperscrutabile logica dei bambini (guest post di mamma Elena)
…now, it’s looking for share numbers for:
Notice the difference in the URL? Since the URL is different, the sharing numbers are reset back to 0 for old posts. Does that make sense? Unfortunately, there isn’t currently a way to avoid this.
Please let me know if you need anything else!

Ok, that’s right … It is a problem for me because I think that those who want to start a collaboration would also look shares … Is it possible to turn back?! Back to the old domain? (I do not require repayment)
Thanks for your time :) -
Hi Michela,
Your previous share numbers should be back to normal now. I changed the primary domain on your account here:
https://besweetbeamother.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
This means that your site resolves to the domain besweetbeamother.wordpress.com instead of besweetbeamother.com. So, the URL pinging the social networks is now the old one.
We have two options regarding the domain:
- I can cancel the domain besweetbeamother.com from your account. Unfortunately, that domain is past the 48-hour refund period. Also, if I cancel it from your account, it will be returned to the registrar and may not become available again for purchase (you could lose it forever).
- I can leave the domain on your account. Currently, the domain besweetbeamother.com is directing to besweetbeamother.wordpress.com so visitors will still find your site.
Let me know how you would like to proceed!

Hi Jeremey,
Ok, so I think I have realized that it is better to keep the domain (I’m not an expert, it was understood?), leave it on my account quietly.
But unfortunately there is still a problem -.-‘
Some of the posts have gotten back shares, but others do not …
Can you make them work again? Can I alert you the most important?
It is:http://besweetbeamother.wordpress.com/2014/01/29/per-quanto-tempo-si-puo-dormire-con-i-propri-figli/ (I remember about eleven thousand shares)
Thanks for your time (and I’m sorry for the imperfect English!) :)

Hi Michela,
It looks like it just took some time for those shares to update. They’re updated when I view the post now:
Let me know if you’re not seeing the updated numbers on your side!
Regarding the domain, it’s really up to you. You could leave it on your site. If readers try to use besweetbeamother.com, they’ll still be taken to your site. However, it doesn’t serve the traditional purpose that many people register a domain for (to have besweetbeamother.com instead of besweetbeamother.wordpress.com). If you ever wanted to make that switch, your sharing numbers would reset unfortunately.
Let me know how you want to proceed!

Hi Jeremeyl,
I leave the domain on my site.
Regarding shares instead, I see updatet numbers below that post now, but still not below some others (the strange thing is that in some posts regards only facebook and not twitter)… I’ll wait a few days to see if they update, can I contact you still here in case this do not happen?
Thanks for your time, again!

Hi Michela,
I believe this will just take a bit of time to update. You should be all set in a few days. If not, please do reach out to me here and let me know!

Hi Jeremeyl,
I hope so, in the meantime thank you for everything, you’ve been very kind :)

Not a problem! Happy to help. Please let me know if you run into any trouble with the share counts updating.
