Why did support close a topic I started, before I had a chance to reply?
-
From the support person’s reply, it appears they didn’t fully read or understand my question. It seems one should at least be given an opportunity to reply to support.
-
I would assume that would be because Staff made the call more than once and it makes no difference what you have to say. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-did-support-close-a-topic-i-started-before-i-had-a-chance-to-reply?replies=1#post-1410954
We are busy and if you want to waste time by creating yet another thread to use as a soapbox it will be closed. -
I would not have posted this if they had addressed my questions. From support’s reply it didn’t seem like she even bothered to fully read my post or cared about my question.
And: “we are busy”? do you work for WordPress? If not, you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to – talk about condescending.

Your question was answered twice over.
Your issue is you don’t like the answer. -
Support’s reply:
“If you wish to have the site updated, you are welcome to contact the site owner if that information is available on the site.”
— support wouldn’t have said that if she had read my post – we have tried everything! There is NO way to contact her – I made that very clear.“I would encourage you to set up your own free blog on WordPress.com if you would like current information to be available.”
— support wouldn’t have said that if she had read my post – I made it clear that was not an option because not only do I not have the time, but it would not address the real problem – which is access to the many years of questions and answers on the site. – Some treatments may change, but most of the info on that blog is “current” – experiences are “current” if they have info women can use. There are women who have gone back and read hundreds of the older posts – because they found it valuable. I’m assuming you don’t have fibroids, so you have no idea how desperate these women can get. Do you think I’m doing this just for fun? I’m doing it because it was a lifesaver for me and I’ve seen it help countless other women. Have you even looked at the blog? Here are just two threads: http://blog.geekwithfibroids.wordpress.com/2006/11/30/is-anyone-having-problems-with-uterine-fibroid-pain-during-pregnancy/
Issues not addressed:
” I exchanged emails with someone at wordpress support a few years ago and they understood the situation and were kind enough to fix some of the links”
— i.e.: if staff did it before why can’t staff do it again?“IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO DO THIS, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BRING THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF A SUPERVISOR OR MANAGER OR OWNER WHO COULD AUTHORIZE THIS! “
— i.e.: Can you take this to your supervisor/manager/owner?“Please – just add “wordpress.” and fix the links!!! Why would that be against policy?” and “what is wrong with fixing some links? It’s not changing the content, it’s just fixing the site!”
— i.e. why are repairs considered content?(Timethief: Didn’t you say you were too busy?)
-
You are eventually going to have to come to terms with the fact that staff will not edit someone else’s blog to suit your demands, even if you go ALL CAPS.
Links are content. They are not your content. Deal with it.
-
I’m now wondering who owns the blog whose links you want these changed TO, and what their relationship with you is. I’d be pretty pissed if I built a site to take advantage of an opportunity like this and was thwarted because WP wouldn’t change the links…of course, it would still be wrong, but I could almost understand…
all hypothetically, of course.
