Why did the coding option disappear?

A few days ago, I was able to manually code borders into images I uploaded into my blog. Now, inserting the same code causes the images to disappear, and the only way to add a border to my uploaded images is to pay to “upgrade to pro” and alter my page-style’s CSS. I understand the point of having more features in pay subscriptions to entice users to buy in, but as a user on a tight budget who came to WordPress because of how much functionality and style-control even the free accounts came with, I find the arbitrary re-categorizing of free functionality as pay-only insulting and indicative of questionable ethics. All I wanted was the same 5-point black border of last week’s images to still be available today.

  • Actually, this has always been a paid upgrade.

You can purchase the Custom Design separate from the Value Bundle via the Store section of your blog’s Dashboard.

Actually then why do all of my older posts have borders that I was able to insert using only the free account?

  • You haven’t been editing CSS for this.

Just click on the image and click the edit icon (not the delete icon), then navigate to the Advanced Settings tab.

You can set styles for just the image from here.

If you want to make this a site-wide change, you’ll need a Custom Design upgrade.

Brilliant! That’s actually not how I was doing it, I was mucking about w/the HTML, & what I was changing stopped working even when cut-and-pasted in identically, but this way leads to the result I wanted–thank you so much!!!
