Why did URL change to wpcomstaging?

  Hello,

  Recently, our URL changed from this: https://playersjournalblog.wordpress.com/

  to this: https://playersjournalblog.wpcomstaging.com/

  I can’t get the old URL to remain in the address window even if I open the site in an incognito tab or a different browser. It always changes to the staging URL.

  Does this mean my changes are not live? Is this new URL permanent?

  Please help me understand.

  Hi there,

  This is correct yes. On the screen where you installed your first plugin you would have seen a warning explaining that this was going to happen. It happens because sites using plugins on the Business Plan does not work exactly the same as other WordPress.com sites, and it needs the different free address to function correctly.

  But you have a custom domain as well, playersjournal.blog. Go to My Site ->Manage ->Domains and set that domain as primary, and it will appear in your browser instead of the free address.

  Hello! :)

  I had the same issue but I don’t want to buy a new domain, I just want it to go back to my old URL. How can I exactly do that?

  our website is https://formslive.wpcomstaging.com/

  Please don’t post into old resolved threads started by other people.

  The only way to go back to the original formslive.wordpress.com address is if we revert the site back to how it was when plugins were first installed on it. This process also carries a risk of all content added to the site since that point in time being lost.

  We cannot revert the site at your request, as you own neither the site, nor the Business Plan on the site. The site belongs to the user, kyliecdavis, and the Business Plan belongs to the user, dynmeth. We can only do this process at the request of one of those two accounts, and either of them should be able to contact live chat support at https://wordpress.com/help/contact for help with this.

  I also see that site already has a custom domain added, formslive.com.au, also owned by dynmeth. You, or any other admin on the site, can set that domain as the primary domain on the site by going to My Site ->Manage ->Domains.
