Why did WordPress remove formatting from my post?

  I am writing an article about programming, so I used the [source language="java"]…[/source] tag a lot. I copied and pasted a bunch of code with proper indenting/spacing. After I hit saved, all the code inside the [source]…[/source] blocks have their formatting removed (indenting/spacing). Is there a configuration setting somewhere I can turn off this feature of WordPress?
