Hi there,
To set an image as the featured image, you can select it in the “featured image” area on the right side of the main “edit post” screen (you may need to scroll down to see this).
This makes the image appear as a featured image at the top of your post, and it also will pull it into a carousel if you have that type of theme.
Does this help, or do you need anything additional?

Thank you! I did end up figuring it out myself. I ended up scrolling down quite far to finally find the ‘featured image’ section, after much looking. But, can I just say…when changes that significant are made at WordPress, a head’s up on this new way of doing things would be really, really appreciated, helpful and minimize frustration.

Hi there,
The “featured image” module has been in that location for quite some time, but I do take your point, and I’ll pass it along!
Thank you for the feedback, and don’t hesitate to let us know right away if you come up against an issue :)
