Why didn't autosave work on my new post?

  • Unknown's avatar

I finished the New Post. I did the proofread and edit.
My mouse fell on the floor. When I picked it up, I saw my blog entry was gone. I didn’t hit delete, and my hands were nowhere near the delete button.
I looked where I thought it should be, nothing. My browser History has nothing for that page.
I search Help here, and learn there is autosave. Oh?

Why didn’t autosave save my new post?

A falling mouse hasn’t made things disappear at other places.

Earlier, when I first clicked on New Post, when I began typing the page changed and logged me out.
Is there a glitch today? Has someone hacked my blog? Its been a long time since I’ve had such a rash of difficulty on WordPress.

    Thank you

I think autosave only works once you have manually saved the post once. Did you manually save it?

As a standard thing, after I enter a title for a post, I click save draft and then start writing my post. I also never trust that autosave will always work and do a manual save every couple paragraphs or so just in case.

Staff are on one of their brainstorming/coding blitzes right now so there may be some glitches here and there as they roll out new code and such.

Thank you for the help, Thesacredpath

I will save as I go from now on.
I didn’t think to save the post. That won’t happen again.
As it turns out, I’m not happy with the poem. Maybe my muse is moonlighting as a gremlin. lol

I use Windows Live Writer on my PC to rough out the Post then I upload it and fine tune it. There is I think Ecto for the Mac and a few others for both platforms – I find the WLW works well, a few quirks that I am still getting used to but overall much easier.

You can also use a word processing program then past the text in – BUT – don’t just paste the text in that give you all sorts of problems – paste in a plain text or as Word document – the two funny boxes on the second line of the visual editor,

    Thank you Auxclass
    I will try that.

Last night after I posted here, I put the entry I posted about the poem into draft (from published). I return today to find it’s out of the draft folder and published.
Also, I’m logged in looking at my stats page when I click on Read Blog. The next page logs me out of WordPress completely.

As I’m looking for this thread, I find one about extra blogs on a person’s account. WordPress was on my blog, and I didn’t put there. Today it’s gone.

I hope they fix the logging out issue as quickly.

    Timethief,

Sorry, but I don’t know how to get the correct link to work.
I tried to delete the old blog, but each time I try, a red box shows up telling me I can’t.
If there’s another way, then I haven’t found it yet.

You can change the URL that is linked to your username by going to users > personal settings, scroll to the bottom and in the account details area change the “website” URL to your current blog and then save your changes.

    Thesacredpath,

    Thank you!
That was so easy I feel like an idiot not finding it sooner.
I think maybe I did before, but obviously forgot.
