why didn't my domain auto renew?
-
I set my preferences so that my site would auto-renew but it has failed? I can do it manually but I was just wondering why?
I know that it is pointing to another host, but it is meant to be like that – is that the problem? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey Margaret,
It looks like the auto renewal transaction failed because the previous transaction is too old. Our payment processor (PayPal) only allows us to renew upgrades using previous payment info if the payment is less than 365 days old. After 365 days, the payment token expires and the payment fails. Going forward, you should be able to renew your domain manually here:

Then, you can set it up to auto renew for the following year.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hello Jeremy and thanks for responding. I don’t have any more questions but I do find it hilarious that WordPress uses system that doesn’t work if it is more than 365 days since a transaction, given that I only want to use it every 365 days to new my domain. Very amusing!

Hey Margaret,
Typically, we auto renew upgrades 30 days in advance of the expiration date to avoid issues like this one. That didn’t happen in this case, but it should happen going forward. So, you shouldn’t experience this issue in the future!
