Why do I continue to receive updates from WordPress two months after I stopped my account?

Updates come to (email visible only to moderators and staff) which was my contact for my ex-WP site. . .why?

Notification emails are sent to the address on your Account Settings page. The email address you mentioned is currently listed there but it can be changed with these steps:
