why do I find adwords that I did not insert
-
hi, I also would like to include adsense in my blog, but I see in the FAQs that I am not allowed to do so. But I found google ads in one of my posts! Is WordPress doing this? If so, is there a way that I can block it?
-
Yes, WordPress is doing it. That is the reason why you cannot add them yourself. They are only visible to people who are not logged into WordPress and (I think) not regular visitors to your blog.

I don’t know too much about the whole adsense thing, but the google ads on your blog is done by wordpress…apparently they have to make some money. I believe you have to pay to get them removed by going to dashboard > upgrades and theres an upgrade called “No Ads”

thank you guys,
I just found more info: you have to pay if you don’t want ads.

But I am trying to give a service to people that work on my research field. And it wouldn’t hurt to get some money for it. So, would you give me some advice, like: why would I choose wordpress instead of blogger? I could potentially make money with blogger because they allow adsense, but it seems that wordpress give more configuration possibilities, more themes etc. Is there a third option? I’d like to use the nice wordpress tools, but I’d also like to be able to insert ads. I guess I could get a sponsor and include their links in some entries, but I’d like to know if anybody knows about another platform half way between blogger and wordpress.
Thanks -
I have a wordpress and blogger blog, I can tell you wordpress is ten times better. Whats your blog address, just curious what research field you work in? Anyways, there is no other platforms between wordpress and blogger, just get two blogs, and use the blog on blogger as an agregate site to your wordpress blog. I thought wordpress let people get adsense if they pay for it somehow but I guess not.

hi, thanks for your suggestion. I work on cell biology; I study how cells die. I have an institutional website but they only update it yearly and I really can’t control what’s on it. I used to maintain a free-hosted website but it’s full of ads. And I only know basic html, but I need more tools. Every month I send around a list of important articles on my research field. I’ve been sending it by email for years, but I thought it should be made public, and then somebody pointed out WordPress. And it’s really nice because I can use it for static pages and also for this monthly list.

oh crap I nearly failed Cell Biology last semester. But, wordpress would be best for what you want to do, though I’d probably say wordpress is best for anything you would want to do :)
