Why do I get an error message after activating the jetpack plugin?

I am setting up a new blog on WordPress.org. As soon as I activated the Jetpack plugin, my main page on the blog gives an error message: “Error loading profile”

As soon as I deactivate the Jetpack plugin, it goes away. But, I’d like to use the plugin. So, how do I fix this?
