why do i have to pay $99 just to use my own domain name?

  i have a domain name that i want to use. Is the only way to do that with wordpress to pay $99?

  Hey there!

  I’m not familiar with the $99 cost that you’re quoting so I can’t really speak to that. However, from what I understand of the domain mapping process (found here) all you need is an upgraded plan of any tier. That means, from my understanding, that the basic personal $2.99 a month plan should suffice.

  @iaewing is correct :) You can map a domain with personal or whatever upgraded plan you choose.
