Why do I have to pay for my free account?

I signed up for a free account and when all the steps were done I was asked to pay a fee. I’m guessing this is because I used the the .blog domain or the pay domain and now I can’t change it. Please look into a matter.

It’s because you have chosen to own a custom domain name. It’s possible only if you buy any of the paid plans.
The free plan is free if you use the free website name which has WordPress.com in it. To remove it, like you did by choosing a .blog domain, you require a paid plan.

Hi there,
Currently you have a free site at http://themexpressblog.wordpress.com/ – the site was still created, and you can use it for free without adding the .blog domain you wanted. You will not be charged for that site unless you again add a new upgrade in future.
