Why do I have to pay to add FREE plugins? It states I have to have a paid account to add free plug-ins. I thought WordPress was free.

    Hi there,

Plugins cannot be installed on the free plan. To do that, you must upgrade to the WordPress Business plan.

    Hope this helps! :)

Do I have to pay for a business site ($40.00 per month) for every site I create on WordPress? Even if I have hosting and a domain with someone else?

  • Hi, the WordPress.com plans apply specifically to sites that you host here on WordPress.com. Our plans are roughly equivalent to hosting fees with another company.

If you’re using the WordPress software with another host, you do not need a WordPress.com plan, as you would not be hosting the site here on WordPress.com.

There are two ways to use WordPress, you can either use the WordPress software downloaded from WordPress.org onto a web host (also known as self-hosted), or you may host your site with us here at WordPress.com. You can learn more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:
