Why do I have to pay to upgrade to business in order to use free plugins?

I really can’t wrap my head around the idea that I have to give you guys an extra $200+ just so I can install a plugin that is FREE, so I can add a stat counter to a blog that I am not using for any kind of business or financial gain. It’s just a blog.

How do I go about getting a refund? I’m not willing to pay hundreds of extra dollars to use a plugin that is offered for free anyways.

    WP.com: Yes

    Hi there!

Most sites on WordPress.com operate in a shared environment, meaning they all run the same software. This allows us to make updates and offer new features quickly, which benefits users like you. However, sharing the same software can also be risky, as one site can potentially cause problems for the entire WordPress.com platform.

To prevent this, we have limitations in place for specific actions on our platform, such as installing plugins or themes. These actions require a Business or higher plan to ensure the security and stability of our system.

If you would like a refund, please go to your plan purchase page at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/somaticserf.wordpress.com/20779817

    I hope that clarifies things!
