Why do I still see WordPress in my URL?
-
Hi, I bought my domain from Namecheap and paid to map it to my WordPress website, but I’m still seeing matrilamb.wordpress.com when I Google my name. Is there a way to change this?
Thanks!

Howdy Matri,
It looks like the domain matrilamb.com is setup correctly as I currently see that domain when I visit your site. Regarding the search results, it can take a bit of time for them to crawl your site and update your results with the new URL. We automatically ping search engines when you post to your blog. If you continue to post, the search engines should update their results within the next few weeks!

Thanks for the info. I don’t blog on my site, however. Will that make a difference? Is there something else I should do?

Google should still index your site and update the information. However, to potentially speed up the process, you may want to setup Google’s Webmaster Tools here:

Although it’s not necessary for Google to index your site, it can’t hurt!
