Why do my Amazon affiliate links get stripped out?

  I read that Amazon.com affiliate links are permitted. But when I add the code to a text widget it gets stripped out. How can I know if the code in the link will be acceptable? I just want to post a book that goes with one of my posts. I do not want to turn my blog into a billboard for Amazon. Thank you. :)

  Try putting it in the body of the post, not in a widget.
