why do my images look faded when I post?
-
Question 1: I have recently started another blog for photography and short form poetic blurbs; pollyannapress, and when I attempt to publish more than one image, they are often faded, or suffer from a strange anemic white out. I have tried various stratagems, (without knowing what I’m doing) but usually what works is just removing the picture. If I set it as ‘featured image’ I can get it to look normal, but I don’t always want to feature it, I just want a secondary picture or two.
I have already cleared my cache and reset my browser, (Safari). I am using Tonal theme. I’m not techno savvy, which is why WordPress has worked beautifully for me, up until now, and I find I must cry uncle and ask for assistance. :o)
Question 2: When I attempt to do a gallery layout for my images, or use image format for the post instead of standard, my Daily Post efforts do not ‘ping’ correctly. They don’t show up at the DP hub page. Is this a Tonal theme glitch, or is it just how it is? Should I change themes?
Thanks a bunch, ya’ll!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there!
Could you please send me a link to a post or page where you’re seeing this white out? And then another link to the image in your Media Library? I’d like to compare the two, so I can best troubleshoot.
Regarding the pingback issue, are you not seeing your site listed at all? Or are you seeing something other than the thumbnail of your site? If you do not include a gallery, are you able to see your listing as expected? Please send a link of a Post you’ve pinged-back, and I’ll look further into this.
Many thanks!

Good morning: Here are the first two links you requested; I left the one post up with the flawed pic so you could see it…other posts where I was having the problem I just removed the problem images…it seems to be the second or third images down the page where it shows up, and I have not had the trouble so far with my other blogs.

http://pollyannapress.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/img_1976.jpgAs to the pingback issue, I could not get the blog post to post at all from the Daily Post site, not until I switched from gallery view on images to single image, and changed post format from image to standard.
The following link is the post where I attempted a gallery view, but was finally successful ‘ping backing’ it after I changed to single view.

Hi Rebecca! I see what’s causing the issue with the first image. You’ve added your image within the blockquotes (the b-quote button on your Visual editor). This automatically adjusts the image, giving it a sort of dreamy/foggy quality to complement the text within your blockquotes. If you want your image to be crisp, you need to add it after the quotes.
As to the pingback issue, I could not get the blog post to post at all from the Daily Post site, not until I switched from gallery view on images to single image, and changed post format from image to standard.
Rather than adjust both at once, could you please create your next post in Standard format, but continue to use the gallery layout for your images? Let me know what happens when you attempt a pingback to Daily Post.
Thanks again!

You’re awesome–thank you! That fixed it! Good to know that about the additional ‘dreamy/foggy’ quality (when desired, ‘anemic’ when undesired) that is possible with the block quotes. :o)
I might be doing a daily post challenge today, so will try the gallery again in Standard format.
Thanks so much. Rebecca

I love the “anemic” description. Hilarious. Glad there was a good solution for you.
Let me know how the Daily Post challenge goes!
Take care :)

I think it worked! I put it to the acid test and tried several gallery groupings, and the stratagem you suggested worked. (Standard format, but gallery layout for several images.)

Fabulous! Mystery solved. So glad things are functioning for you now! Best of luck with your lovely site and non-anemic images :)
