Why do my posts that publicized to Facebook have the wrong "by" name?

    I have 2 blogs connected to this username. The first is “Bibliovore Corner” and the second is “Tales from a Bibliovore”. I have Facebook connected to “Bibliovore Corner” and when I post it says “(title) by Tales from a Bibliovore” on Facebook when I actually published it on Bibliovore Corner. Why is it doing this and how can I fix it?

    Hi there!

    Are you sharing to Facebook using a Publicize connection? Or are you using the Sharing buttons?

    When I attempt to use the sharing buttons, I’m seeing the correct name and corresponding site. See below:

    If you are using Publicize, I’d like you to disconnect each connection to Facebook, clear your cache, and then reconnect both sites:

    If it continues to happen, I’d like you to test by posting to your sites using another browser such as Chrome or Firefox.

    I use Publicize.
    I disconnected, cleared cache, reconnected and tested….same thing happened.
    I then tried posting using Chrome.
    Same results.

    Hi there,

    The Facebook byline should read the blog address set as the “Web Address” in your Account Settings here:

    https://wordpress.com/settings/account/

    Currently, that address is set correctly as bibliovorecorner.wordpress.com. It looks like we’re sending the correct information to Facebook as well. If you use the Facebook debugger on a post from bibliovorecorner, you’ll see the correct author profile:

    I realize that might look like a bunch of gibberish. The key part is the following:

    <meta property="article:author" content="http://bibliovorecorner.wordpress.com/author/slerickson/" />

    We’re sending the correct author URL. So, it looks like this might be a caching error on the Facebook side. Basically, Facebook stores some info regarding your posts. Until it updates, your byline will continue to read the wrong site URL. Unfortunately, there’s no telling when it would reset. Hopefully, it should be sooner rather than later!
