why do some bloggers host their site outside of wordpress?????

I’m just curious about this. Is there a benefit to getting a domain name and then hosting at a place like godaddy and using wordpress as software?
best,

There IS no upside to dealing with GoDaddy, as I understand it. But some people are Flash addicts, want to use forms for their readers, dream of AdSense millions, Or just want not to be bothered with someone else’s interpretation of what is Mature or Spam. I’ve got sites off WP.com and I have ads on them and I live off the income. I’ve got a very popular blog here I’m going to move off WP.com specifically so I can put ads on it.
And some people just like to hold the reins, technologically speaking. They like the challenge of doing their own maintenance and maybe doing a custom theme and so on.

Mainly it’s a control issue and to be able to run ads etc and search engine and traffic intents. Search engines give more weight to sights that are not subdomains usually a top domain URL will always rank higher when folks are doing searches.

I don’t know about the search engines giving more weight. WordPress.COM has a whole lotta juice ;)
