Why do some comments not appear in the Recent Comments sidebar?

Heya WordPress, quick question for you.
Some recent comments made to my blog are not showing up in the “Recent Comments” section. It’s weird: comments made to a main post show up in that “Recent Comments” sidebar, but any comment made to one of the images within a post do not show up. Can I change that, so all new comments are highlighted in that “Recent Comments” section?

Hi there. I can’t find anything in the support documents, but I’m guessing that, because image attachment pages lie outside of your blog’s regular structure, those comments don’t form part of your comments feed and thus don’t appear in the widget.
I could be wrong, so I’ll tag this for staff to follow up. Another volunteer who knows the answer might also reply in the meantime, but otherwise please be patient while waiting for an answer from staff. Please make sure you’re subscribed to this thread so you are notified when they respond.

At Appearance -> Widgets in your blog’s Dashboard, edit the Recent Comments widget in the Sidebar 2 section. At the moment, you only have Posts checked. To include comments on Media, you’ll also need to check Media.
