Why do strange numbers show up in my recent post widget using chalkboard theme?

    my recent posts are listed/linked by the date they were posted. why is there an extra random number in front of the the date?

    It’s not extra and it’s not random: it’s the number that the system has supplied in place of a title, because you created the posts without first typing a title. You can edit each post, click Edit next to the Permalink (below the title field), enter the appropriate words joined by hyphens, click OK, click Update.
