Why do the stats count my own visits?
-
Every time I look at my site on my phone, the stats increases view count by one. And the ‘referrals sites’ for those are WordPress. That happened in the middle of the night. So I know my own visits are counted. What can I do to exclude my own visits from the stats?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The time at which a stat is increased is irrelevant since you may receive visitors at any time of day, and there may be a substantial delay between a page view occurring and the stat being credited. What can I do to exclude my own visits from the stats?
Log in to the site before visiting it.

Well, all the “views” came from the same location as I was, so the time was relevant. With each additional refresh from me, I saw an increase of view counts by one. THAT is significant.

Agreed. In any event, your visits won’t be counted if you’re logged in, unless the site is set to private.

I was indeed logged in, so in theory, my visits shouldn’t have been counted. But they were. Why?

I don’t know. You may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention.

Hi there,
I see a number of different sites linked to your WordPress.com account. Did this happen on your site https://codebyline.wordpress.com/ or a different one (or more than one)?

-
You mentioned that you’re logged in when you view your sites. Do you see the dark grey admin bar across the top of each site when you look at it on your phone?
-
-
Did you view your site from within the iPhone app, or did you go from the app to Safari to view the site?
Even if you’re logged in to the app, if you view your full site within the app (for example, tapping the “View Site” link in the My Sites section) you’ll see a logged-out view of your site. That can count your visit in your site’s stats.
