Why do video embeds work only sometimes?

    I can link to videos but embedding them works inconsistently? I write for three blogs– my own, my work blog, and a group blog. On my blog and the work blog– both designed with premium templates– I have no problems embedding videos, but on the group blog– designed with the freebie, plain Jane “Carolina” theme videos work only sometimes. I had one YouTube video that embedded just fine on my blog but would only link (not embed) on the group blog. What’s up?

    I used the “insert media, choose video, upload, Insert from URL” method on my blog, but that almost never works on Carolina. As a result, we have been copying the embed code and pasting it in under the text tab, but that doesn’t always work.

    Hi Pamela — I am curious if the two sites on which your video embeds work are self-hosted, while this one is on WordPress.com’s servers.

    If this is the case, we have a different procedure to adding videos to WordPress.com-hosted sites, than you do on self-hosted sites.
