After being hacked for the first time in the 7 years I’ve had my hotmail account I checked out my settings and saw that you have full access to my contacts and other vital info. I changed it so you wouldn’t have access and I hope I can still have my blog account.

I can’t imagine any other reason for being hacked except for my newly set-up wordpress account so I hope you’ll give me a good explanation for the access requirement.

    Thank you.

…WordPress does not have access to your email account, or your email contacts. They use your email address as a unique identifier only. At no point should you hand over your password to anyone, or give anyone access to your account.

Go here > Dashboard > Users > All Users and delete any username you find there that is not authorized to have access to your blog. http://jesusmyjoy.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php
Go here and immediately change your password to a very strong password >
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password
Go to your rmail account change your password to a very strong password
Read this section carefully and know if you are posting by phone it was probably your email account that was hacked to gain access to your blog.

I think TT is asking you to go here: http://santabarbaradianne.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php to delete any unknown or unauthorized usernames…

Thank you so much for that catch. I appreciate it. I copied and pasted and didn’t change the URL.

After being hacked for the first time in the 7 years I’ve had my hotmail account I checked out my settings and saw that you [WordPress] have full access to my contacts and other vital info.

Anything I can do to help… also, it’s my interpretation of the OP’s request that they believe their WordPress account gives WP total access to their Hotmail account, and this access led to their Hotmail account being ‘hacked’.

I can’t imagine any other reason for being hacked except for my newly set-up wordpress account

But I’ve been wrong a few times already today, and all of your advice to the OP works either way.

the option I undid was very clear that the information on just about everything for my email account would be available to WordPress, that’s including photos.

From what I have heard it appears that it’s email accounts of some folks posting by email that have been hacked.

btw, it feels like social media wants to trick you into sharing pertinent info. It’s really weird. Guess you just can’t trust the ones that say privacy is so important to them. :(

I don’t post via email. I go directly to my WP site to post new blogs. Maybe they want me to purchase the pkg that make it my own or something. Can’t have compromised info or I won’t trust them even for a account I pay for.

Did you ever connect Publicize via Messenger Connect or import from a Windows Live Spaces blog?

Hi. Can you tell us where you found the ‘option’? If you could copy and paste the instructions here it would help a lot to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
