Why does a shifting gif image work in edit mode but not in reading mode?

  I added a multiple-image gif that rolls from one image to another. It functions in the edit mode, but doesn’t in the reading mode. Can you tell me why? (Latest post in “A Translator’s Notebook on the above blog site. Thanks in advance for the info. I’m still trying to figure out what I can’t do and what I can’t do with my blog!

  Do you have another image like this that you could try to post? Just so we can rule-out a file-specific issue?

  Thanks, macmanx. No, I don’t have a similar image. I found this one on a Spanish website: http://manuscripta.bibliotecas.csic.es/. (At this very moment the site is not accessible. This is the second time this has happened to me late at night – 12.35 a.m. here in Spain.) If you can get into that site, you can copy the same or any other image as it’s a Creative Commons site. Thanks if you can figure out the trick. It would be a great illustration for the post and I’d like to know if I goofed in some way. FYI, I have a basic site. Could the problem be that I need an upgrade for this type of image to function?

  I have a feeling the image may be more complicated than a typical image file, and we’re removing something from it during upload.

  Hopefully the site will load up soon, so we can take a closer look.
