Why does a username is displayed at this forum rather than the displayname?

  I thought display name was for public display and username for logging in. Am I wrong?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  In the Forum user-names are used as they are unique – display names are not – probably many “steve” display names. When you comment on other blogs your display name will be used.

  The username is used in the forums for the sole purpose Staff have a easier time keeping track of who said what in the forums if they need to track back for what ever reason…

  Example (If they had to look up someone by their display name they could run into a lot of “Steve’s” before they found the correct “steve”)
