Why does content linked to from my blog contain highlighted words (w/ads?)
-
I am trying to use this service as a place to collect links to my online poetry publications but it won’t do to have certain lexical items bolded with pop-up ads. Please tell me how to eliminate this problem. If my linked poems must have ads, please let me know this as well and I can move my project. Thank you. ~Alec

There are no text link ads and there are no pop-up ads placed by WordPress.com. Then can however appear to you as the result of a browser add-on or toolbar or downloading anything that has adware embedded into it.
All WordPress.com placed ads are easy to identify as this link accompanies them http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/
Any other ads you see are not placed on the blog by WordPress.com. They are coming from a browser extension or toolbar. These sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads: http://www.littletechiethings.com/2012/06/how-to-remove-ads-not-by-this-site.html http://blog.wikimedia.org/2012/05/14/ads-on-wikipedia-your-computer-infected-malware/ http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/09/14/bloggers-beware-of-adware/
If you use the information at the sites I linked to and still see ads please post screenshot http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ Upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it. Then type modlook into the sidebar.
