Why does it say that the new blog's name I want is taken, but it is deleted?

    I’ve wanted to register a new blog name. Instead of elisapopanton.wordpress.com : smartandsassy.wordpress.com.
    It says there is already a blog existing with this Name.
    I went online to check out this site out and it appeared that :’ WordPress has deleted this site due to inactivity.’
    So my question – why can’t I use it? If it’s not existing and deleted

    Sorry, but unfortunately this address will never will be available again and you will have to try something different:

    Addresses (URLs) for blogs that have been deleted by the owner will remain deleted. We cannot, under any circumstances, allow someone to take over the address of a blog that was owned and deleted by its original/previous owner. Please do not submit support requests asking us to do this.

    Imagine you have a blog for a while, but then decide to delete it for personal reasons. We then let someone else take over the name. A year later you get an angry phone call from a friend or relative who has clicked on an old bookmark, reads something offensive, and thinks that it was published by you. This is why our policy will remain in place.
