Why Does it Take So Long For My Gravatar To Change?

    Please help me. It takes over two or three weeks for my picture to change on my home page when I change “My Gravatar.” It changes all around the WordPress Blogsites but my homepage picture takes a long time and then one day, “poof” it changes. I need it to update for a very important reason right now, and it has been three weeks since I changed the photo. Again, the small photo that is seen when I post comments is correct, the large homepage photo HAS NOT changed. For clarity, this has happened each time that I change the photo, so eventually, something causes it to finally change. How can I speed that up?

    All I can do is give you the best practices for uploading a gravatar successfully and the link to the FAQs on the gravatar site.

    These are the best practices for uploading your gravatar:

    (1) Prepare the image prior to uploading it and make sure it’s no larger than 128 pixels X 128 pixels square.

    (2) The image filetype has to be either PNG, GIF or JPG. Make sure the file name contains only letters and numbers – no special characters – and make sure all letters are in lowercase.

    (3) Also make sure the image file name has an extension (Example – image.jpg)

    (4) Note that there is a time delay while your gravatar image propagates. If you are experiencing problems then go to the gravatar site http://en.gravatar.com/ and read the FAQs as it contains common questions and answers to them http://en.gravatar.com/site/faq/

    In those FAQs I found this:

    I changed my gravatar, but I still see my old one on sites!
    We cache your gravatars for periods of time, which means that your new gravatar will take effect after the old one expires from the cache. The reason we do this is to be able to serve your (and indeed everybody’s) gravatar images much more quickly and reliably.
