Why does Jetpack send comments to a US-server on my self-hosted blog?

  A quick look into the source code of my webpage after installing Jetpack (and activating the comments module) shows, that there is a JavaScript that manipulates the original comment form to send comments to a Jetpack server in the US instead of directly sending them to my blog.
  As I’m a German citizien, I’d need to ask my visitors for permission in order to do so legally. This is the reason why Akismet cannot be used in Germany either.
