Why does
run paragraphs together?

I occasionally like to use the
tag to break up a long post or page, but I find that the paragraphs after the tag always run together.

My webpage uses the Regulus theme, but i don’t know if the problem is specific to Regulus or a general WordPress phenomenon.

I typed in paragraphs after the
tag as a separate paragraph with two returns between them, but they have all run together. Using
tags or
tags has no effect on the problem.

    FWIW, I usually type
but WP converts the tag to
.

    Any suggestions?

    Just for reference,
is correct as per html 4.01. That’s why it’s converting it.

Can you show a post where this is occuring please?

Take a look at this page as an example.

In the first full paragraph (starting with “Wilton, Conn.”), there should be a paragraph break after the sentence that ends “infuriated her.”

Halfway down that page, the next
is followed by “A few days later, someone tipped off the media.”, which should be followed by a line break.

    The next
is followed by the word GRADUATION. In that text block, there should be paragraph breaks after “theater-lovers and reporters.” and after “after the principal banned the play.”

In each instance, I’ve tried reinserting line breaks with double returns in either visual or code modes, and I’ve tried using
and
codes to break the paragraphs. But as soon as I save, the breaks again disappear.

(I should add that I’ve been having the same problems with posts.)

    Thank you!

    Have you tried
or

what usually works for me is using
before and after
tag
I also like the extra space :)
