Why does my blog show formatting information when I post the link elsewhere?
-
My blog displays formatting information like the following when I post the shortlink. I tried clearing the cache and history.
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:”Table Normal”; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:ye…
Thank you for your help.

Hi Dana,
Can you send me an example link?
At first glance, that styling is likely coming from Microsoft Word (I’m assuming you’re copying and pasting material from there).
While Word is great at document creation that is intended to be either printed or converted to a PDF, it is quite bad at formatting blog content. Basically, this is because it doesn’t know what style is provided by your site’s theme, so it tend to overcompensate and include way too much.
Ideally, you’ll find what you need using the built-in editor, but if not, when pasting from Microsoft Word, there is a special “Paste from Word” option that can help clean up the extra markup.
Screenshots of how to find it in your post editor and more about it can be found at http://en.support.wordpress.com/microsoft-word/
Cheers!

Gosh! You’re a genius! Is the “paste from word” option on the WordPress site? I’ve never had this problem before so it surprised me. I’m a big cyber dork, as you can tell!

It’s funny how sometimes it hits folks with every attempt to use Word and others it can be awhile before it does anything of note.
If you’re in the U.S., I hope you had a great holiday and if not, a great weekend. Cheers!
