Why does my "edit" screen not look like my "preview" screen?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m trying to post my latest blog post, “Well isn’t that interesting?”

I’ve copied/pasted from various sites that I like using…everything looks great on the screen when I’m typing…but then when I go to “preview” the page, the spacing (the last 4-5 bullet points) are in a waterfall type of layout instead of just straight down the page. I’ve tried hitting “Shift + Enter” to fix that…but that hasn’t worked. Why didn’t it do it with all of the other bullet points?

Help! I’ve had this happen a few other times before…I fix it in the “edit” screen and then the “preview” or even “publish” screen is wrong….but then I just give up and post it wrong. (not very professional of me)

    Ugh.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Nadia,

It looks like a few unnecessary <div></div> tags were added to your post. Additionally, because one of your fun facts was short, the length of the image in comparison with the length of the line of text threw off the layout for some of the other fun facts.

I’ve re-located this fun fact to the bottom of your post for you and removed all of the <div>’s, so everything should be displaying correctly. In the future, one of the best ways to troubleshoot layout issues is to take a look at your post in the HTML editor.

In this case, you could take a look at the properly coded items at the top of your HTML Editor and compare it to the images/text that were giving you a problem at the bottom of the post. I hope this helps!
