why does my own WordPress site not show up in WordPress 'Reader' searches?

  My site is called virtuesignallingleft. wordpress. So if I type in the words ‘virtue’ and ‘signalling’ and ‘left’ I would expect my own site to show both in ‘Reader’ ‘sites’ and in ‘posts’ because a) my site is the only active WordPress site that contains all those words and b) my site has those words in its homepage. But my site does not appear EVEN THOUGH OTHER SITES WITH NAMES NOTHING LIKE THIS DO appear.
  So I am puzzled? And how is anyone ever going to find my site when it doesn’t show up even for SEARCHES DIRECTLY RELATED TO IT. Please help.

  Hi,
  Hope you are doing good.
  1.)The reason you don’t see your own site’s posts in the Reader is because you are not currently following your own site may be .
  Kindly go through the below thresd it may help you :-

  2.)It looks like your site’s feed just got stuck in the system. If you don’t see it in the Reader, try refreshing the page with Ctrl-F5.

  Thank you Shini for trying to help.
  It is true that I am not following my own site (and will rectify this).
  But this still does not explain why all sorts of sites (ones that I am also not following) show up in the search even though their relationship to the search terms is much much weaker and less relevant to the search than my own site. This is the really puzzling thing.

  I never use it so I’m no expert but I’m not sure if searching by site titles is how you are meant to use the Reader. I believe it focuses more on tags and phrases. For example if I type “the BBC bias machine” into the Reader search box your post with that title shows.

  Thank you themagicrobot, that is helpful.
  I will have to experiment with some other tags. There also seems (from the previous post) to be some issue – which I can’t make much sense of – with Reader and Jetpack.
