why does my PW work for me but not my partner?
-
I am enlisting the aid of a family member and trust him implicity so I shared my password and user name with him. He cannot log in from his computer in another state using the exact same ones I CAN use on my computer. Can you please advise me as to how I can give him access?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Have him create his own username and password, Invite him to be a contributor to the blog, and see if he can log in then.
-
Hmmm, he was going to help me tweak my theme/template and some graphics. Can a contributor do that?
-
We cannot tweak theme templates on WordPress.COM blogs. All blogs wearing the same theme use the same underlying template. There is one template for each theme and only staff can access and edit it.
The only themes we can use on WordPress.com blogs like your blog are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
upload any third party themes,
create child themes,
create our own themes,
edit templates,
create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.Relevant support docs:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that.
WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can create themes, upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database, etc. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.
-
He can do that if he’s an Admin and you have the Custom Design upgrade, which is part of the $99 bundle.

So is there anyway I can let my partner see into my template options and maybe choose one that will work a bit better with a logo or something? Again, my username and PW would not work on his computer-which seems really odd.
-
Have him get a username, Invite him to be an Admin, and then he can see the theme options and choose one for the blog.
-
Every theme has a detailed description page for set up[ http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/kelly/
Every theme also has a live demo site and that is template for all blogs wearing the same theme. http://kellydemo.wordpress.com/ -

If you’d like to invite others to publish posts or help approve comments on your blog, you can invite them to be a Contributor, Editor, or Author. If you want users to receive updates each time you publish new content you can invite them to be a follower/viewer.
