Why does my Recent Posts widget disappear?
-
It disappears when I tell it to show posts with a particular category. Why? The category exists and two posts use it.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The way the Recent Posts widget operates is described here http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/recent-posts-widget/
The way conditional widget visibility options are set up is described here http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility -

Thank you very much, Timethief and Raincoaster. The blog is private right now while I try to learn how everything works — or at least how everything I’d like to work, works. It’s all completely new to me, from HTML to widgets to second and third columns which are not really columns (for content), but “sidebars.”
I was hoping to use the “Recent Posts” widget for main blog entries, and the 2011 Ephemera widget for shorter commentary or links. I’ve assigned a category to the longer stuff and told the widget to show posts with that category, which is when it vamoosed instead. And the category, btw, is one I created, not one from a standardized list, so that may be where I first erred.
I’ll read through all the support docs tomorrow — hopefully a light will dawn . . . Thanks again.
