Why does my site have a temp domain and how do I change it?
-
Hello,
I set my wordpress.org site up via Bluehost, where i inputted my domain name, yet for some reason wordpress gave me a temp domain.
I can see this in the web address at the top of the page, as well as within ‘settings’ on my dashboard. Both my ‘WordPress Address (URL)’ and ‘Site Address (URL)’ are displaying a temp domain.
I tried changing these to my actual domain, but it rendered every button on my dashboard to lead me to a 401 page.
Any help on this ridiculously overcomplicated platform would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob -
Hi,
Since you are using the self-hosted WordPress.org it would be best to ask for help in the WordPress.org forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums. The forums here are for sites hosted with WordPress.com
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are not the same. You can learn about what makes them different at https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hi there,
Regarding the domain you should actually contact Bluehost directly, as which domain is linked to your site is controlled by them.
The WordPress.org forums can only provide help related to the actual WordPress software.
