Why does my URL keep changing to a "remote log in"
-
When I click certain links, or try to view my site from the dashboard the URL changes to this:
Since this is happening in both IE (8) and Google Chrome it doesn’t appear to be a browser issue.
after the URL changes I get an invalid key message and a “back” selection… clicking the back selection just repeats the error.

I probably should have mentioned that this was happening before the recent upgrade as well.

By any chance, are you using Hughes as your ISP?
Hughes has a feature called “Turbo Page” which retrieves a cached page when enabled, saves them bandwidth, and doesn’t work with mapped domains due to a misconfiguration on their end.
I recommend calling the Hughes support center and asking to have the Turbo Page feature disabled on your account. That should solve the problem.

Bingo! I’m learning to expect that most problems are attributable to things Hughes is doing or not doing. Unfortunately, they are the only option I have out here in the sticks!
I’ll try that change soon, but it makes sense. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just to update… I emailed Hughes (verbal communication can be a challenge) and they replied with a lengthy boilerplate email–buried in it where the instructions for how I could disable the “Turbo Page” feature. It’s not very difficult. Having done so seems to have largely eliminated the problem. (It happened once when I clicked a link within an email–but I’m thinking that might have been a holdover.)
Thanks again for the help.
