Why does Publicize fail from time to time?

  • Unknown's avatar

From time to time, my post won’t automatically post to Facebook via publicize. It seems to happen randomly and even if I go in and manually recheck Facebook on the Publicize options, it won’t post.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there! When your posts do not publicize to Facebook, does this happen with a scheduled post, or a manually published one? Just so you are aware, if you publish a post once, and then edit it or try to republish it, it will not republicize to Facebook. If you find you need to do this manually, please open your post in the browser, scroll to the bottom, and click on you Facebook sharing button. You can post manually that way. Not a perfect solution, I know, but a bandaid until we can figure out what’s going on with your connection.

Here is a list of common reasons posts may fail to publicize:

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

The problem typically happens with scheduled posts. I don’t think I’ve had an issue with it manually posted ones as of yet. I have tried to go into to the scheduled posts (after they’ve posted) and select the Facebook option under publicize, hoping that would fix the problem. But when I try to update the post it un-selects itself.

Hello again. This is helpful information.

I know it’s far from an ideal solution, but for the meantime, would you disconnect Google + before you post again? I am wondering if that connection is interfering with your Facebook publication and would like to test that. If you could disconnect Google + at Settings → Sharing, and leave it disconnected, that would be helpful. Then, after you publish next, please let me know what happened with that post/Facebook link. Thanks very much.
