Why does Reader not show my featured image, but shows embedded video instead?
-
On Reader, all my posts are shown headed by the featured image I set (makes sense). Except my latest post, which does have a featured image, but Reader shows a video that is embedded at the end of my post instead (does not make any sense).
The embedded video doesn’t make sense contextually until the end of the post, so Reader is making this post very confusing.
Why does WordPress do this?

Hi there!
So currently that is the intended behavior. If there is an embedded video, that would take precedence over the featured image in the WordPress.com Reader.
However, if the post has the Gallery or Image post format, a video or audio embed in that post would not be used in the Reader – one or more images would be used instead.
So edit that post and set the format to Image or Gallery as seen here:
Cheers!

Can you see that the intended behavior is inconsistent and illogical? I hope you will reconsider this design.

Media like video and audio take precedence over images unless the post is indicated as an Image or Gallery post.
If you want the image to appear in your Reader, you just have to set the post format as Image or Gallery.
