Why does the author attribution change or not correspond to me?

  Why does a post I have written sometimes display as being by another author, when I logged in as me? And when I add categories to an author’s post it changes to having been written by me?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there – The author should be whoever clicked publish on it. Can you please point me to a specific example post where this happened, and let me know who the author for it should be, so that I can look into it? Also, do you use the same computer as any of the other authors on your blog?

  Yes, that’s what I would have expected.

  In these examples the author should be kapitistacey but is amespaekak. The change happened when I went back and made an edit:

  http://greenestneighbourhood.net/2013/09/12/649/

  And in this post it was gwyn williams but changed to amespaekak when kapitistacey made an edit:
  http://greenestneighbourhood.net/2013/09/12/658/

  And no, we don’t use the same computer.

  Hi there – You can use the author module below any post to change the author:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/new-post-screen/#post-author

  I note that amespaekak is the first author in the author list, so from what you describe, it sounds like when you’re editing posts, that dropdown Author menu is resetting to the first choice, for some reason.

  I can’t reproduce this on my end, though. Can you please try editing a post in an alternate browser, such as Chrome or Firefox and see if the same thing happens? That would help us narrow down whether the issue has something to do with your browser.

  Thank you. I couldn’t even see the author option, but have opened that now and am fixing the author attributions.

  I suspect part of the problem is my browser – I can’t see all the dashboard symbols as we are operating an older version of Windows Internet Explorer. Chrome and Firefox aren’t options here.

  Hi there – that’s probably the problem then. :) If you can update to a more recent version of IE, that would be good. Otherwise, just make sure to double-check the author field when you’re updating posts.
